An ethnographic south Queensland shield (gulmari), of wood in ovoid form, the anterior decorated with polychrome ochres beneath smooth patina, the rear with recessed lug grip, Thargomindah, 58 x 31 cm, Ex-coll. Lord A. McAlpine, old label to the rear indicates that this shield was purchased from Lawson's Auctioneers on 5 July 1981 also inscribed N.E. Qld No. 55
