Description:
1982 Vh Hdt Group Three SS 5-Litre Brock CommodoreVIN no. L581827Engine no. VT368754 Registration no. Hdt-793 expires 10/8/2010 The Holden Dealer Team Brock Vh Special Vehicles were found to be popular long before public release, with the 1982 Melbourne Motor Show display causing excited buyers to put down deposits early.Unlike its precursor, the VC, the Vh came in four distinct models, the Commodore SS Group One, Two and Three all of which had 4.2 litre engines and the Group Three 5 litre. With each incarnation an increase in performance and refinement. The 5 Litre Group Three was naturally the most desirable of the cars featuring a long list of options including; improved performance with extensive engine blueprinting and the fitment of a gas-flowed inlet manifold, exhaust extractors, blueprinted ignition system and cold air intake which boosted the engine from 185 bhp to a peak of 246 bhp at 4750 rpm and increased stopping power with more powerful discs.Aesthetically the Group Three benefits from lowered, stiffened suspension, wind splitters, rear spoiler, front air dam, side skirts and a rear under-tray together with Irmscher 15x7 wheels though its most distinctive features being the menacing bonnet scoop the all important Group Three decals. In 1982 at $5,500 over the cost of the donor car, the Group Three was not cheap, though as you would expect the performance model sold well.Hdt's newest weapon was praised by the press with its ability to provide near race levels of performance in a civilised package. The Group Three SS could reach 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and did the standing quarter-mile in 14.9 seconds, both times matching the best high performance cars from Europe.Build number 793 was sold new by the ACT Holden dealer Beazley and Bruce in 1982 to Shelland Pty Ltd of Giralang. Service stamps up to October 1991 are present with its original manuals. though the cars ownership history is unknown for the 5 years following. The vendor purchased the vehicle in 1996 and has cared for the car well in his 13 year ownership with reciepts available for over $20,000 in maintenance.
