1965 Jaguar E-type S1 1/2 Roadster Chassis no. IE3551Engine no. 7E103359 Registration no. Et-065, the E-type Jaguar is perhaps the most beautiful production car ever made. An evolution of the famous D-type, so successful at Le Mans, Jaguar designer Geoff Lawson called the E-type 'The optimum expression of steel'.A symbol of 1960s freedom, the E-type was launched in 1961. It was the antithesis and an antidote to the post-war austerity Britain of the 1950s. It was a car that made an immediate impression on all who saw it. Frank Sinatra said, 'I want that car and I want it now,' on seeing the E-type at the New York auto show in April 1961. It's looks and performance made it a hugely popular car and it appeared in several iterations for more than a decade. Perhaps the most popular and desirable is the series 1 1/2 4.2 litre, with its larger engine, more torque, improved gearbox and brakes and more comfortable seats, the E-type is so beautiful it is the first production car in New York 's Museum of modern Art. This series 1 1/2 4.2 litre E-type roadster has been subject to a marvelous restoration by its current owner just over ten years ago, the car was purchased from the Usa and underwent conversion to right hand drive and a total rebuild to exacting standards by marque experts. Full history and photographic documentation of the restoration, mechanical rebuild and many bills are available in the car's extensive file. In excellent condition throughout, this is a highly desirable and very pretty car.
