Description:
1985 Porsche 930 Se Turbo 'Flachbau' Chassis no. WP0ZZZ932FS000962Engine no. 67F01016 Registration no. Mcduff expires 23/2/2010 Looking at the rear of the Porsche 930 Se Turbo it does not look that different from a normal 911. It is only when you look at the front that the unique styling suddenly strikes you. Not that the 'Flachbau' or 'Slant Nose' was styled just for its looks, but more importantly the aerodynamically enhanced front end had been developed for the race-proven 935 and a larger turbo charger over its rear mounted 3.3 litre engine.Built under the 'Sonderwunsch-programm' (special wishes programme), each 'Flachbau' unit was handcrafted to create more downforce. It was a limited edition and a very special Porsche factory option with less than 1,000 units built, with only some fifty in right hand drive. The 930 Se Turbo 'Flachbau' was very rare, very special, very fast and very expensive. The 1985 'Flachbau' offered here is a bespoke factory example of the model. Ordered new by renowned Porsche collector, Pat Burke, it had significant Porsche factory upgrades carried out including the wooden vents over the wheels (rare), larger turbo, bigger brakes, and clutch and suspension modifications. Other special factory modifications for this actual car include the dash mounted variable driver controlled tubo booster combined with a 935 competition type Led boost gauge. At its low setting the car produces 450 hp.This 'Flachbau' is believed to be the only genuine example ever imported new into Australia (pdi and compliance plate by Scuderia Veloce) and was the car used at the Brisbane Motor Show. It has been meticulously maintained by its fastidious custodians, one of whom was Warwick Brown, winner of the 1977 Australian Grand Prix, the 1975 Tasman Champion as well as 1977 and 1978 Rothmans Champion. The car is in superb condition with its original delivery driver's manual and maintenance record and has covered less than 24,000 kilometres. It comes with its history file and even its original Guards Red touch up paint stick. The car is in perfect original condition, including its wonderful striking period interior, befitting a vehicle of such low mileage and careful ownership. Words and photographs do not do justice to this vehicle which can only be truly appreciated when physically seen.
