An Australian Silver Card Case By J.M Wendt Adelaide circa 1890 Rectangular the hinged cover bearing an armorial crest and the Latin inscription 'Nec tarde nec timide' the reverse with an engraved monogram opening to a leather lined interior fitted with compartments an ivory note pad and a silver projecting pencil signed in ink 'Annie E Popham July 23rd 1891' the cover hallmarked with a lion passant Wendt and a crown within a fitted presentation case 212grs. total weight 10.5 cm wide. Note: the card case is accompanied by a modern card bearing the inscription from the original card (now missing) which reads as follows: 'Francis William Hope Popham b. 1848 Channel Islands d. 1903 Gawler. Arrived Adelaide 1853 married Julie (nurse) daughter Esther Annie - granddaughter.'
