19th century china, Qing Dynasty: large tall cylindrical bronze bell topped by a Heavenly lion, as a handle, the sides divided into four vertical sections with a top layer of studs in four neat rows, above calligraphy poem also repeated. Reads: 'Ji Mien Wei Ru Shang Rien Mien Yi, Zhi Sheng, Zhu x Ing Wu Chang' (Keep silence out of this world, you will be happy - out of the way is your hope, everything is not permanent). Height 90 cm. Diameter 40 cm. Very good condition
