A fine Victorian ivory presentation staff for Lying-in Charity the long turned handle with acanthus leaf and ring turned decoration with double ball finial to the base and carved crown to the top, surmounted by a removable crest of the Prince of Wales, the back of which has a polished brass plaque engraved 'Lying-In Charity / for poor married Women / at their own habitations / Instituted 1757', together with its original red leather fitted case, 14 cm wide, 56 cm long
