A very fine Japanese cloisonne wisteria vase. Meiji period. C.1895. On silver body, the ten lobed baluster shaped body decorated with hanging wisteria flowers and vine leaves on a cobalt blue ground, signed by the master Kumeno Teitaro. 1865-1939. Kumeno Teitaro pioneered the technique of enamelling over a large surface area inside and out to prevent shrinkage in cooling. This vase shows that effect. Height 18 cm
