A fine large and rare early Meiji Sectioned marine ivory figure group carving, the farmer stands with a smile holding a basket of peonies and a locquats branch while his Son carries a basket of the fruit, the details and sumi diaper tunic patterns well rendered. At least twelve sections of whale tooth and walrus tusk to make up this piece. Visable dentine in various spots on the figures. Height 28 cm
