A 19th century shark hook fashioned from a bronze Nail by the Pakeha Maori, John Rutherford, Rutherford received the moko and was also known as the 'Tattoed Englishman'. Provenance; gifted to the vendor's father from a Maori elder who at that time was living at Te Kaha. Three hooks had reputedly been made by Rutherford and gifted to the elder's ancestors, this being one of the examples
