A fine Washkuk yam fertility sculpture (mindja), of wood in slender ovoid form, the anterior decorated with polychrome pigments, the visage with prominent brow and projecting spike nose, pierced eyes, mouth and apex above an undulating openwork medial ridge, the rear with yam motif in relief, weathered, Papua New Guinea, 151 x 50 cm.
