Important Victorian satinwood cylinder top desk, c1870, attributed to Gillows, Lancaster, having a central pierced toprail leading to a mirrored panel, and three short drawers below, flanked by twin canopied pavilion tops with twin panel doors the cylinder opening to reveal a selection of arcaded pigeon holes, short drawers and a sliding gilt tooled leather writing surface, with cameo pulls, resting on two banks of three drawers and centered by a long single drawer, the sides each with a single brushing slide and rams head terminals, all resting on acanthus capped turned and fluted forelegs, the whole with rectangular crossbanded panels, inlaid with chequerboard and mahogany, width 125 cm depth 68 cm height 166 cm.
