Maori Staff. Presented to Francis Worcester Stubbs, the exact date unknown, but it is known that it was made for him on his retirement as Town Clerk for Geraldine approx. 1884. He held this position for 20 years. Francis Worcester Stubbs was the first white man to take stock through to Timaru. He arrived in Lyttelton in 1852. For 5 years he worked for Rhodes Bros, Timaru and took stock through on several occasions. He managed the Harris and Innes Station at Pareora, Timaru for 5 years.
