Negro Folk Art - Auctioneer's Gavel c1865, hand carved, origin unknown (most likely American) A marvellous carving of a male head and torso in typical folk art style with the Inscription .'Now come on gentlemen, give me an offer'. Overall length 30 cm; in teakwood. Base of the handle has carved letter 'S' associated with the R.M. Serjeant collection (See also Lot 84 from the same estate)
