A pair of Art Deco gilt-bronze and alabaster light fittings, circa 1928. Width 45 cm each semi-eliptical alabaster shade held in a gilt-bronze bracket supported by three Egyptian male figures standing on stylised foliage, the Regent, theatre, George Street, Sydney, the Regent, theatre was located at 487-503 George Street, Sydney and was designed by the distinguished architect Cedric Ballantyne and built by James Porter & Sons. A gala opening was held 9 March 1928, the Regent operated most of its life as a cinema, however from the mid-1970's to mid 1980's it was popular as a venue for concerts and stage shows and performances by the Austraian opera and Ballet.
