A Fine Carved Ivory Plaque Depicting A Scene From William Tell Mid 19th century Rectangular carved in high relief with a depiction of William Tell amongst a crowd of on-lookers aiming an arrow at an apple balanced on a child's head within a hardwood fame the plaque 11 x 15 cm. Note: this plaque is reputedly one from a series of five panels devoted to the tale of William Tell. It is believed to date from circa 1829 coinciding with the premiere of Gioachino Rossini's opera Guillame Tell on August 3 of that year
