A Late 19th century Australian Fiddleback Blackwood Dressing Table Attributed to W.H Rocke & Co. Melbourne circa 1885, the central shaped rectangular mirror back within foliate carved scroll supports above an arrangement of six short drawers and a central domed top storage compartment the serpentine top with a single frieze drawers raised on scroll supports carved with acorns and lion's paws on a concave platform base 122.5 x 169 x 59.5 cm. Note: featured in the exhibition catalogue Colonial Character: Nineteenth Century Australian Furniture Ballarat Art Gallery 1995 curated by Terry and Judy Dixon illustrated catalogue page 39. Dixon notes that the dressing table is identical to a piece bearing a Rocke label. Dixon also notes that it is likely that the dressing table is part of a bedroom suite given that the drawers are numbered VI-XII
