Letter of Thanks from Duke of Cornwall & York (later George V). To the Earl of Ranfurly, dated 2 July 1901 from Hobart. 4 pages written on H.M.S. 'Ophir' black edged letterhead and envelope thanking him for all the kindnesses shown to him and the Duchess during their New Zealand visit. He writes 'I can assure you that we left New Zealand with great regret & shall never forget the many kindnesses & hospitality that were showered on us during those 17 days. And you can be certain that we shall long remember the warmth & enthusiasm by which we were welcomed by the people in all parts of the Colony. Our visit to the Maoris at Rotorua was deeply interesting & will stand out by itself as by far the most interesting feature of anything we have seen or shall see, during our long voyage'.
