An oak quarter chiming long case clock, John Halifax, London, the tall swan neck pediment over freestanding turned columns, short trunk door and tall panel base, the 12 inch square brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring and signed engraved centre, with selection lever for 4bell/8bell chime, the movement with extremely substantial plates united by four knopped pillars, anchor escapement chiming the quarters on a nest of eight bells and striking the hour on a ninth, now contained in an associated 18th century oak and mahogany case. Height 210 cm
