A Sri Lankan .900 silver box, Sri Lanka, Kandy, second quarter 20th century, the jewellery box of rectangular bombe form with scalloped ends, the hinged and domed lid repousse and chased with an elephant, a stupa, a mythical beast and palm trees, surrounded by Kandyan vegetal and floral scrollwork framed by patterned borders, raised on four ball feet, the underside engraved with scrolling motifs around stylised flower motif, and inscribed 'From H. R. Fonseca and unmarked, X-ray tested .900 silver. Weight 158g height 5.5 cm, length 12.5 cm, width 7 cm
