A framed $100 Mawson banknote, countersigned by the original signatories circa 2000, Tony Cole (Secretary to the Treasury) and Bernie Fraser (Governor of the reserve bank), mounted framed and glazed with the original signatures of the then Governor general (William Deane), then Prime Minister (John Howard), then Treasurer (Peter Costello) and the world famous Antarctic Explorer and conqueror of mount Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary. Numbered 24/50, the presentation was created to raise funds for the conservation of the historic huts as cape Denison, used as a base by the Mawson-led Expedition of 1911-14.
