John McCORMACK (Ireland, 1884 - 1945), full pen autograph with dated message 'Sydney, Oct. 26th, '11' on a fine photograph of the great tenor while he was in Australia performing with Nellie Melba's grand opera Company. Clearly a cricket fan, he has dedicated the photograph 'To my friend Victor Trumper, the greatest of them all, with the very best wishes and kind regards from the Wandering Minstrel, John McCormack'. Overall 28 x 21.5 cm., Victor Trumper (1877 - 1915) was part of the Australian test team that faced England in Australia in the summer of 1911, so McCormack was in position to watch some fine cricket. While England won the 5 match series 4-1, Trumper made the only century for the Australians.
