William Edwards of Melbourne fine quality wine ewer with repousse decoration, applied grapes and leaves and original stopper, 19th century, stamped 'W.E.' flanked by kangaroo and emu marks, 36.5 cm high, 754 grams. William Edwards was the Son of a London based silversmith and emigrated to Melbourne in 1857, soon becoming the city's leading silversmith until his death in 1889.
