Gold mining in Victoria: an April 1907 indenture between King Edward VII (signed by his representative, Sir John Madden, Lieutenant Governor) and 'The Caledonia gold Mines, no Liability' for carrying on mining operations in the parishes of Warrandyte and Nillumbik' in the mining district of Castlemaine. Fully signed by all parties, with a hand-drawn map of the leased land. Provision No.3 includes the statement that the lessor 'will employ in the construction of the works or in the mining operations........'thirteen' able and competent workmen and miners at the least not being Chinese.....'.
