Henry Lane [The convict clock maker from Bristol]. Antique longcase clock with one piece silvered dial, marked 'Henry Lane Bristol', in Sheraton mahogany case with conch shell inlay to the serpentine edged trunk door. Three train weight driven movement chiming the quarters on 4/8 bells, strike/silent subsidiary to the dial arch. Made by Henry Lane in Bristol before he was convicted of forgery and transported as a convict to the penal Colony of New South Wales. A time and strike example is held in the Powerhouse Museum collection in Sydney. 250 cm high
