A large-scale model of R.M.S. Titanic by John Borrows, finely detailed complete with passengers and Rose and Jack on the prow. 210 x 28 x 62 cm. Provenance: Made by John Borrows, an Auckland engineer who was the brains behind Fisher & Paykel's revolutionary SmartDrive washing machine. Together with New Zealand inventor Sir Ray Avery, he helped to build cheap and durable 'Life Pod' incubators. 'I recognised straight away that he's a genius, he's not normal: he sees things in 3-D' said Sir Avery. In Mr Borrows' spare time he was a model maker.
