A rare late Victorian Robert Baden-Powell cast iron umbrella stand, with figure of Robert Baden-Powell (1857-1941) in Safari military uniform standing in relief, his sword to his right hand and field glasses to his left, upon a rocky base with his initials B.P. The back embossed "No 413 Rd 363492 BICLAM". The drip tray absent, height 69.5 cm. Note: Baden-Powell was a famous British Army Officer during the Boer Wars, author of military reconnaissance and scout-training literature and founder of the Boy Scouts. The stand likely fashioned from Powell's years in Africa during the 2nd Boer Wars.
