William Henry Kretchmar 1856 - 1945. A significant early Western Australia photographic album. (see, McKenzies auction lot 156, March 2024, for a biography and details of a previous album). The subject album seems to be the Kretchmar family album. Inside cover, in ink within an octagonal label, 'W. H. Kretchmar 28 Thompson Road Claremont'. Contains approx 51 pasted in images and 3 x loose images. One of Boans store, c.1920, the Geraldton Rowing club, (Kretchmar included), plus a certificate for photography, Geraldton. Pasted in Images, mostly approx 15 x 20 cm, mostly anotated, include; wild flowers, Aborigines, 'A ton of gold', cue, Perth Parks, 'Wilgie Mia' Ochre mine, view of south Perth, across the Narrows, tents, cue 1892, 4 x miners, portrait of Paddy Fitzgerald, (discoverer of cue gold), plus his, 'Native boy, Pompey', Perth water etc.
