Papua New Guinea friction instrument. Mid 1900s. Friction instrument, has forked bottom end with incised pattern. Both sides have two faces carved onto them & painted in earth pigments. The edges have a serrated carving that can be used to make sound by running a stick up & down the serrated edges. Plume of cassowary feathers attached to the top through a bored hole.
