A very rare Longquan/Guan celadon octagonal dish. Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). This extremely rare Longquan/Guan celadon octagonal dish, dating from the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), features an elegant, flat, and everted octagonal rim, a shape likely inspired by Song Dynasty silver and gold works. Its unique form is seldom seen in celadon ware, with very few examples documented in literature. A similar dish, measuring 15.87 cm and adorned with a finely crackled glaze, is housed in the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco as part of the Avery Brundage collection. This particular dish is illustrated in M. Tregear's 'Song Ceramics,' published in New York in 1982, on page 138, item number 183. Such pieces are celebrated for their historical value and exquisite craftsmanship. Dimensions: diameter 14.5 cm, height 2.2 cm
