A cast bronze food steamer. Warring States period, (475- BC). The globular vessel raised on a flared foot and cast with three rows of addorsed kui-dragons and one of a twisted rope chain set off by a pair of taotie masks suspending single rings, the decoration repeated in modified pattern on the cover under a rounded flat handle, the interior pierced for use, the surface covered with a malachite patina and earthen encrustation.
