A Loetz Federzeichnung 'Octopus' vase, 'Victoria' variant, Bohemia, 1887, the cased baluster vase with elaborate trailing white and gold enamelled decoration in the Indian manner, marked 'patent' to base, 22 cm high. Other Notes: Loetz held the patent for the method of producing Octopus glassware, but the pattern design was registered by the English firm that commissioned the work from Loetz, Wittmann and Roth. 'Octopus' was registered on July 1 1887, as design 76057. 'Victoria' is a more elaborate version of 'Octopus' and was so named to coincide with the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria
