A Battersea enamel miniature plaque depicting Christ on the cross, mid 18th century, transfer printed enamel in delicate colours housed in a gilt metal frame, after an engraving by Ravenet (Simon Francis, the elder), 1753-1755, 10 cm high, 8 cm wide. Other Notes: a near identical plaque is housed in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, Accession number: 414:1429-1885. Crucifixion subjects are unusual in the repertoire of Battersea enamels of this era suggesting it may have been made for a Roman Catholic rather than a Protestant market, possibly for export
