A gold mounted tortoiseshell box with a concealed portrait miniature by Nathaniel Hone (1718-1784), probably mid 1760s, the oval box with three colour gold and silver floral inlay to the removable lid, the inner compartment with a delicately rendered watercolour on ivory half portrait of a woman in a blue dress, initialled Nh and dated probably 1764, 4 cm high, 8 cm wide, 6 cm deep, Provenance: Manhattan Art & Antiques Centre, Hoffman Gampetro, New York, 2015
