Early 19th century Australian Aboriginal Nardoo seed grinding plate, Darling River Basin, of oval and rounded shape, heavy and beautifully worked to smooth finish acquired by the preparation of plant and seed over millennia, 71 cm x 34.5 cm most were broken by cattle in tribal lands. Major Mitchell passed through Western NSW in the 1840's and wrote of the large plates being used to prepare massive amounts of damper for the tribes.
