Important 19th century Maori mere pounamu (greenstone), in dark greenstone, with woven end with lanyard hole, with well carved blade with fine striking edge, with label for 'Beasley Collection'//'Ex: NZ Northesk//59(rubbed) and label 'Prince S.A. Radziwill Collect' and part 'Stash' Radziwill (21 July 1914-27 July 1976), then Christie's, tribal Art (including the property of Prince Albrecht Radziwill), London 13th July 1977, lot 60, then Private Collection, Sydney, then by family descent. Length 31.5 cm and width 9 cm (at the widest end).
