Macintyre gesso faience Florian biscuit barrel, c.1894-1928, designed by William Moorcroft, of baluster form, surmounted with a silver plate rim, handle and cover, the body decorated in the Art Nouveau style, in tones of yellow, brown and green on a mottled blue ground, stamped to base in red James McIntyre & Co Ltd/Esso Faience/ Burslem England, height to cover 16 cm and diameter 17 cm note: the 'Gesso Faience' line was developed by Harry Barnard who had come to MacIntyre from Doulton's and left them in 1897 for Wedgwood.
