19th century French 18ct gold & diamond watch chatelaine, c.1875, stamped with eagle head 18ct gold minimum fineness mark, the chatelaine engraved to reverse edge 'Stuffynwood Hall/Mansfield Notts', flanking an engraved rampant lion crest of arms, the front beautifully decporated in tri-tone relief with pansies (for thoughts) and a bezel set round old round cut diamond, suspending a watch case of matching design with inner engraving '5 Janvier 1875' beneath monogram, the white enamel dial set with Roman numeral hour markers and electric blue hands, case diameter 33 mm, total weight 87.30gm, total drop 15 cm, in original presentation box with matching monogram to cover published: "How the watch was worn, a fashion for 500 Years', by Genevieve Cummins, colour plate 212, page 86.
