Classic mid 18th century Dutch rococo chatelaine & Equipage, in gilt metal, the English gilt silver verge pocket watch signed to movement 'John Miller/Preson/ #259', silver hallmarks rubbed, estimated c.1718/19, with white enamel dial and gilt squiggle hands, set within a gilt metal outer pair case with repousse classical style figures within ornate c-scroll and foliate borders, suspended on a delightful chatelaine of matched design, suspending two breloques; a cachou lozenge box with intaglio seal and crank watch key, together with an English sewing chatelaine c.1750 in gilt metal, stamped for maker Ip (possibly John pinchbeck), suspending a necessaire case containing hinged blade and two spoons, with depiction of Aphrodite to front within c-scroll borders, flanked by two thimble cases with hinged covers, below a chatelaine surmounted with depiction of Apollo, length 18 cm (2) published: "How the watch was worn, a fashion for 500 Years', by Genevieve Cummins, colour plate 40 and 41, page 24
