18th century French F.Berthoud verge watch on chatelaine brooch, stamped with 18ct gold fineness marks to watch case and clip, the verge movement signed 'Fd Bertoud Paris', no movement number, the white enamal dial marked 'Bertelony/A.Paris', with Roman and Arabic numeral chapter dials divided by small rose cut diamonds, with keywind aperture to the 2 o'clock position, set within an open faced case with tri-tone gold diamond and foliate engraved bezel cover, the case back finely decorated with central hand painted porcelain panel of an attractive young lady in a diamond chip border, further bordered by a white and yellow gold wreath with diamond stud accents, a/f (some diamonds missing from settings), case diameter 39 mm, suspended below an 18ct pierced yellow gold chatelaine clip surmounted with hand painted porcelain roundel of a young woman, framed in neoclassical themed pierced foliate and c-scroll fret designs, tapering towards the base with two hinged panels and dog clip, total weight 73gm, total drop 15.5 cm, clip width 3.8 cm
