Stunning French 18ct gold & enamel pendant watch chain and pin, c.1860, maker L.A Counis of Geneva, stamped 18k to inside cover, case #40432, with clean white enamel dial set with Roman numeral hour markers, the outer case cover superbly decorated with gold monogram 'Mb' within c-scroll borders, within eight six pointed stars with foliate engraved designs to the centers, on a ground of rich navy blue enamel with slightly petalled rim, the reverse similarly decorated with a field of twelve stars, suspended on a dual foxtail link chain with two spherical bead spacers of 12 mm diameter, terminating at a circular pierced brooch pin, diameter 2.9 cm and seal 2.5 cm drop, each with matching engraved monogram, total combined weight 68gm, total chain length 33.5 cm published: "How the watch was worn, a fashion for 500 Years', by Genevieve Cummins, colour plate 402a & b, page 139
