18ct gold Shrapnell of London verge pocket watch chatelaine suite, late 18th century, the movement signed 'James Shrapnell London, movement no.1537, within a finely decorated 18ct yellow gold case with half pearl bezel cover surrounding the dial, the reverse cover with stunning central old round cut diamond in a multi claw setting, set within a diamond chip accented sunburst surround, bordered by gold stars, on a rich blue guilloche enamel ground, terminating at further seed pearl borders, case diameter 4.2 cm, connected to a tri strand circular link chain in the center with chamfered rectangular gold spacer with matching design, the chain terminating with almond shaped locket containing a hand painted young lady, together with two conical charms suspending spiral tassels, total combined weight 107gm, total length 30 cm, together with an eye brooch of matching design, with central old round cut diamond and circular diamond chip border of a blue enamel field, weight 10.38gm, width 4.1 cm (2) published: "How the watch was worn, a fashion for 500 Years', by Genevieve Cummins, colour plate 78, page 37
