An air-twist wine glass, with John Wesley connection, English circa 1745, drawn, flaired trumpet bowl, mercury twist stem with pr of corkscrews, and a conical foot. Height 160 mm, Foot/Stem/Bowl 75/15/65 mm. Provenance: John Wilson bought this glass from Southeby's in London in 1985. Sotherbys told him that the glass came from a deceased estate with a note. The note, which is in the file, says: 'This glass belonged to Miss Howe of Bickley. Her father fetched it from his house for John Wesley to use in communion service. It was given to Mrs Shutter by Miss Howe when she was 90. The story ties in with historical facts would seem to be true, or at least likely. The current owner has performed extensive research which will be supplied with the glass.
