A plain-stem Irish volunteers wine glass, Ireland circa 1740, drawn trumpet bowl, plain stem, and a conical, folded foot, engraved by Tiez with Irish harp, above 'Londonderry Fusiliers', below, 'Third Company' within garland, on reverse, a fruiting vine. 19 cm high. Later engraving by Franz Tiez, C1900. Reference: See 'Investing in Georgian glass by Ward Lloyd', p123, top/right photo. This is the same glass: not only identical engraving but small air tear in stem and tiny bubble on foot beneath tear are in identical positions. However engraving is probably fake, as the glass predates the Fusileers by some 40-50 years.
