An unlabelled German violin, circa 1900 with maple back and side, spruce top, wear on the neck and on treble inner bout suggesting that this violin was used extensively by a folk fiddler, fitted with new ebony pegs, Despiau bridge and new sound post, new ebony tail piece, chin rest and Obligato strings. Instrument only. Provenance: from the stock-in-trade of retired Melbourne violin restorer and shop owner Brenton Fyfield ('The Violineri', first established in Camberwell in 1986). Length 58 cm
