German paper mache Taufling baby with original body, solid domed wax on papier mache head, black glass stationary eyes closed mouth, flat cut socket on shoulder plate with lower torso, wooden arms and legs on rag cloth with bellows (no working) 40 cm, wearing antique cot gown and petticoat. This type of doll appeared circa 1860, inspired by Japanese child doll that had just been introduced to Europe at the international Expositions, and is considered the forerunner of the Germany ball-jointed bisque child doll
