A Neal Smith recliner prototype, New Zealand design. Designed in a sculptural form to satisfy the reclining body. The top and base are laminated solid timber to reduce visual bulk but to also enable extended cantilevers. The orange upholstery in loop piled New Zealand wool. The recliner was part of the Carter Holt Harvey 2003 Metaform exhibition at the Auckland Museum; the exhibition was promoting the use of a hardened NZ Pinus Radiata. This is the original prototype. The top and base are laminated across the width, both finished with a white oil to enhance the grain, height 56 cm, width 61 cm, diameter 209 cm
