[Andrew Lenehan Interest] Dunbar chair. Antique oak armchair with engraved plaque stating 'Made from the Wreck of the ship Dunbar, August 20th 1857'. 92 cm high, 52 cm across the arms. The Dunbar was wrecked off Sydney heads on the night of August 20th 1857, with the tragic loss of 121 souls. Only one crewman, James Johnson, survived. The wreck highlighted the dangers of long distance sea voyages and with the gold rush at fever pitch, the demand for such voyages was at a height not seen before.
