Description:
A large impressive 18th century mere pounamu large heavy spatulate shape with smooth curved surface tapering to a translucent cutting edge. Blade reducing to an oval cross-sectioned grip with a shouldered butt. Carved in deep green kawakawa variety stone with dark feathery inclusions. Countersunk suspension hole. Some light natural scarring to one side of the blade. Height 41.5 cm.
