An MBE boxed medal awarded to Walter Holmes, together with a four medal miniature group with Military Cross, 1914-15 Cross, and WWI pair plus Medaille militaire medal, cloth badges etc. Also includes framed photographs of the recipient Walter Holmes being presented with his MBE by George the Fifth on board the Brittania at the Kings review of the fleet 16th July 1935 at Spithead. Apparently, Walter Holmes single handedly diverted some live mines from imminent collision with naval vessels. He apparently also received the Military Medal in the WWI and was heavily involved with the evacuation at Dunkirk in WW 2
